COVID-19 and Your Visit with Dr. Chang

1. Dr. Chang continues to adjust to local and federal recommendations to keep both providers and patients safe.

2. Dr. Chang has and will continue to offer both in person and telemedicine visits a. We encourage patients who are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19 to use telehealth services versus visiting the clinic.

3. Masks are required upon entry to both of our buildings and clinics, there are no exceptions to this policy.

4. In order to continue to maintain safe social distancing, patients are asked to wait outside of the clinic prior to their appointment time a. Your provider will either call or escort you into the clinic when appropriate b. We continue to screen all patients for fever prior to entering the clinic.

5. Patients are asked to sanitize or wash their hands upon entering the clinic prior to being escorted to their treatment rooms.

6. It is now a clinic policy that if you have a fever, cold/flu like symptoms, cough, or suspected contact with anyone with COVID-19 that you remain home and self-quarantine for 10-14 days prior to returning to the clinic.

7. Providers self-screen for temperature and COVID-19 symptoms daily.

8. We continue to practice elevated cleaning protocols: a. Sanitizing all surfaces of the rooms including tables, chairs, desks, and door handles before and after patient visits b. All linens and blankets are changed prior to each patient encounter c. All provider medical equipment is sanitized between patient visits.

9. New, high-quality and energy efficient air filters are in the process of replacing older air filters in all clinical treatment rooms.

About Dr. Chang

David Chang, ND, LAc, is a board-licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist with extensive training in naturopathic primary care and classical Chinese medicine. With more than six years of professional experience and a strong interest in chronic pain management, he is proud to own and operate his practice in Portland, Oregon.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Chang spent part of his childhood there before moving to beautiful Ashland, Oregon, and then on to Portland. After graduating from a six-year medical training program at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Dr. Chang trained and completed a one-year residency under the guidance of Dr. Ilana Gurevich.

Dr. Chang has since sought comprehensive training in regenerative therapies like prolotherapy, ozone therapy, platelet-rich plasma, cold laser therapy, perineural injections, and stem cell therapy.

As a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Chang takes a holistic approach to medicine, meaning he takes the whole body’s health into account when making treatment recommendations. His goal is to eliminate the root of a patient’s condition, not just treat the symptoms. 

Dr. Chang has been an active athlete for his entire life, so he understands how frustrating it can feel to go through life with debilitating chronic pain. With a passion for sports medicine and pain management, Dr. Chang combines naturopathic medicine and regenerative treatments to reduce pain and help restore function to damaged tissues, muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments.

To better serve his patients, Dr. Chang is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese. In his spare time, he enjoys movies, healthy cooking, basketball, and tennis.
