Common injures in new parents

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have, but it can also take a physical toll on the body. Here are a few common injuries that parents may experience:

  1. Back pain: Carrying a baby or a toddler can put a lot of strain on the lower back, especially if the child is heavy or if the parent is carrying them for long periods of time. This can lead to chronic back pain and discomfort.

  2. Shoulder pain: Similar to back pain, carrying a child can also cause strain on the shoulders, especially if the parent is using a baby carrier or a baby sling.

  3. Knee pain: Bending down to pick up a child or to play with them can put a lot of pressure on the knees, especially if the parent is doing it multiple times a day. This can lead to knee pain and even knee injuries.

  4. Wrist pain: Holding a child or pushing a stroller can put a lot of strain on the wrists, especially if the parent is doing it for extended periods of time. This can lead to wrist pain and even carpal tunnel syndrome.

  5. Headaches: Being a parent can be stressful, and stress can lead to headaches and migraines. Additionally, lack of sleep and poor posture can also contribute to headaches.

It is important for parents to take care of themselves and to seek medical attention if they experience any of these injuries. Simple things like stretching, exercising, and taking breaks can help prevent these injuries and keep parents feeling healthy and strong.  A good way to be proactive about taking care of your body is to receive treatments such as acupuncture, low level laser therapy, or even regenerative injections in more persitent cases.
